Panel Wants Broader Antidepressant Labeling - New York Times

When it comes to people dying, saying "I told you so," doesn't give one much consolation. How many people have died since 1991 when an FDA panel decided that antidepressants were completely safe?

But one should recognize progress when it occurs. So let's acknowledge the FDA Panel that has recommended that the warning of increased suicide risk on anti-depressants be extended to include anyone up to the age of 25: Panel Wants Broader Antidepressant Labeling.

Of course one does have to ask: So when someone hits their 25th birthday what happens to suddenly make them immune to the suicidal effects of anti-depressants? I suppose the drugs suddenly realize that this person is too old for that particular side-effect? Or are we just going to have to wait another 15 years before these killer drugs are banned completely?

They're at it again

You really have to stay awake in this country if you want to retain your civil and human rights. Read this story so you stay informed: Federal government launches marketing campaign for psychiatric industry

Nice to see a celebrity refusing to bad-mouth others

The press is always ready to yell about one celebrity saying something nasty about another so it's nice to hear about a celeb who refuses to bad-mouth her peers: Hilton quits Billboard awards over jokes.

Good manners go a long way and it's about time the news media started learning that.

Human Right #19 – Freedom of Expression

A human right I forgot to mention the other day in my post about discrimination against Muslims in Europe is Human Right #19 – Freedom of Expression. Watch it:

Now how does that apply to preventing women from wearing the clothes they choose to wear? How does that apply to preventing girls from wearing head scarves? How would you feel if something you wanted to wear as an expression of your individuality was made illegal?

Human Right #2 - Don't Discriminate

Yesterday I talked about the discrimination against Muslims in Europe. Here is a video that demonstrates Human Right #2 – Don't Discriminate. After viewing it think about how it applies to preventing girls from wearing head scarves or women from wearing burqas. Think about the consequences of discrimination - the anger it causes, the pain, the retaliation. And then decide whether discrimination is a good idea or not.

European Governments Violating Human Rights

The Dutch government is the latest European government to propose or pass a law that violates several provisions in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The excuse? "Security." But when you read the article you'll see how completely lame that one is: Dutch government proposes a ban on wearing burqas in public.

Which provisions of the UDHR are violated?
Human Right #2 Don't Discriminate
Human Right #6 You Have Rights No Matter Where You Go
Human Right #7 We're All Equal Before the Law
Human Right #8 Your Human Rights Are Protected By Law
Human Right #11 We're Always Innocent Till Proven Guilty
Human Right #12 The Right to Privacy
Human Right #17 The Right to Your Own Things
Human Right #18 Freedom of Thought
Human Right #19 Freedom of Expression
Human Right #28 A Fair and Free World
Human Right #30 No One Can Take Away Your Human Rights

If the people of Holland feel okay about the proposed law then they should think again. They are giving up their own human rights, not just the rights of some minority that is being demonized. Little by little human rights are being eroded in Europe. It isn't something obvious such as happened in the 1930s in Germany, it is much more insidious, with plenty of excuses and reasons why, but the end product will be the same.

An Astounding Video

Here is a video where psychiatrists actually openly admit that they have no tests for the illnesses they say people have and where they admit they have never cured anyone - and notice that each one of them laughs as they say it.

The News Media is Keeping Us Informed

I'm so glad that the news media takes its responsibilities seriously. You do realize that without the tireless work of all those reporters out there we would never be informed of all the important things going on in the world. I'm so glad that they manage to sift through all the bric-a-brac and irrelevant garbage to bring us the news that really counts and that we couldn't live without.

For example, the slow erosion of our civil rights as more and more laws are passed to "protect"us from nasty terrorists is so unimportant that it is rightfully ignored, while a truly vital news item such as Linsay Lohan calling Paris Hilton an obscene name as a joke is given the headline status it deserves.

Yes, democracy is safe thanks to the news media.

My Dad just got another medal for his service in WWII

My Dad just received another medal for his service in WWII. This time it's the "Russian Convoy Medal" also called the "Victory in the Great Patriotic War" medal awarded by the Russian government to veterans of the Russian convoys. Even people who aren't Russian are awarded it and seeing as how my dad's ship was sunk and he had to swim for 15 minutes through freezing Arctic waters to a rescue ship, I think he deserves it!

Giving up rights

Yesterday I posted about my dad getting a medal for what he did in WW II. He fought and almost died to protect the rights of a people in a free and democratic society.

Another man who fought and was seriously injured in WW II, L. Ron Hubbard, said: "The price of freedom is constant alertness, constant willingness to fight back. There is no other price."

Just a few days ago a major freedom was taken away by our own government. Watch this video on Google Video: Commentary on HR 6166 . We still have the right to make our voices heard, so after watching the video write to your representative telling him or her what you think of HR 6166 and demanding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Articles 5, 6, 7, 8,9 ,10 and 11 (to which the USA is a signatory) not be violated in this country.

The Arctic Star - WWII Medal

My dad just received his Arctic Star (aka Arctic Emblem), a medal given to veterans of World War II who served on the convoys to Russia. You can read some articles about the medal here:

Victory for the News in Arctic Medal Campaign

My dad was on a British warship on several runs to Russia. His final convoy was the most heavily attacked of any convoy during WWII and his ship was sunk, he was one of the few survivors.

More on the ADHD Fraud

Here is more proof that "ADD" and "ADHD" don't actually exist. I don't say that kids don't get hyper, I say that the "mental diseases" called ADD and ADHD don't exist because the hyper state kids get into comes from non-mental causes such as eating junk food. This article from Reuters is just more proof:
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Oslo teens who drank the most sugary soft drinks also had more mental health problems such as hyperactivity and distress, Norwegian researchers reported on Thursday. Their study of more than 5,000 Norwegian 15- and 16-year-olds showed a clear and direct association between soft drink intake and hyperactivity, and a more complex link with other mental and behavioral disorders."

UK gallery scraps art, fearing Muslim rage: curator

It's a strange world where pieces of art are taken out of an exhibit using the excuse that it might offend Muslims - what about the rest of us? The items that were removed sound pretty offensive no matter what your religion. Why are the press blaming it on Muslims? It seems there is a campaign going on to cause a split between people of different religions. Let's not fall for it! Leave the Muslims alone!

Meds Killed Daniel Smith

Another death from prescription drugs, this time a highly visible one: Wecht: Meds Killed Daniel Smith son of Anna Nicole Smith .

A couple of years ago in the New England Journal of Medicine it was admitted that 106,000 people die every year from taking the correctly prescribed medication. Get that "correctly prescribed medication". It seems to me that the only truly correct prescription is none at all.

World Institute of Natural Health Sciences

Here is an important organization that more people need to know about and support. Governments are often heavily influenced by rich and powerful industries such as the pharmaceutical and food industries, so it is important that consumers have a rallying point to help organize resistance to legislation that takes away consumer rights. The World Institute of Natural Health Sciences is an organization for consumers to support that will help protect our rights.

Their website also contains news about what is going on in the world of health (or "unhealth") related legislation around the world.

Quote of the day

If it wasn't so sickening this quote, from the "chief Internet inspector" of Thailand's coup leaders, would be funny:
"We seek their cooperation [electronic media] not to present articles, remarks, or information that will infringe the democratic reform under the constitutional monarchy."

So part of "democratic reform" is to curtail freedom of speech, hmmm.

The "Health Care" Industry

I honestly think that the Health Care industry is a complete fraud. That may sound extreme but if it isn't true then explain how this can be: Near where I work is a health care professionals training school. Every day I see the majority of these people being trained to be nurses and health care technicians, etc., sitting outside during their breaks, smoking. I also observe that 9 out of 10 of them are overweight and that 8 out of 10 are obese. As if that weren't enough I see them at lunch time eating fast food and drinking those large 32oz sodas you get from fast food places.

Now explain to me how it is that "Health Care Professionals" who supposedly know all about health and how to be healthy are smoking, obese and eating junk food? There is only one explanation: They don't know jack about health.

You must read this book

Every now and then you come across a life-changing book. For me the first one was "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health". That led to a much happier life for me and my loved ones.

Well, I just came across another book in the area of nutrition that for me is the "Dianetics" of nutrition. It's called the China Study. It is the book my wife read that persuaded us to go vegan. While she was reading it she would read bits to me and that alone was enough to convince me that we needed to change our diet. Now I'm reading it myself and I feel strongly that, just like Dianetics, it is a book every one needs to read.

The three biggest killers in America today are Heart Diseases, Cancer and (believe it or not) Medical Care. If you read the China Study you will see the obvious solution to the first two and the means of avoiding the third. (By-the-way, that 1,2, 3 list comes from the Journal of the American Medical Association, so even the doctors admit that their drugs and mistakes kill a quarter of a million people a year.)

China's health crisis as it follows the example of the west

Here is an interesting story: China rejects U.S. powdered milk imports as being too toxic for Chinese children . The article is not just about the toxic milk imports but also about what is happening to the Chinese as a result of adopting western styles of eating

One very important paragraph from the the article says: "The health of the Chinese people is plummeting precisely because they are increasingly following Western diets and lifestyles," explains Mike Adams, a consumer health advocate who speaks Chinese and once lived in Asia. "The more meat, milk, processed foods and sugary sodas they consume, the more they will look like sick Americans -- obese, diseased, lethargic, angry and mentally impaired. And if they follow the same route that America has by drugging their population with prescription drugs, they will join America in a march down the path of economic ruin due to out-of-control health care costs."

Pharmaceutical Roulette

If you take any kind of medical drug you need to see this comic and the article beneath it: Pharmaceutical Roulette (comic):

Vegan Bug Bites

In the past when I've gotten bitten by mosquitoes and the like, the bites swell up into huge red blobs that can be up to 2 inches across.. One time I got bit all over the side of one leg and the whole leg looked like a bug battlefield. Also they used to take ages to go away - the bites, not the bugs :)

However, last week I got some bites and not only did they not get huge they also went away quickly. I think it is because of the vegan diet. Eating a plant based diet makes the body more alkaline and this helps counteract the effects of the bug bits. My body can just handle them better.

So, bring on them bugs! I'm ready for 'em!

Silver Amalgam (Mercury) Fillings

The insanity of putting Mercury into people's mouths as part of "Silver" Amalgam fillings was brought home to me once again when I heard a news item about a local school. There was an accident in the chemistry lab and some Mercury was spilled. The Hazardous Materials people were called, the entire school was evacuated and 5 kids were taken to hospital because of Mercury exposure.

Now what do you think about having Mercury put into your mouth? Is the American Dental Association lying when they say it is perfectly safe? Is the Swedish government wrong to ban Silver Amalgam (Mercury) fillings?

I'd say ask the Haz-Mat people what they think about Mercury. Then find a dentist who will replace the Mercury with something safe. Here's my dentist: Save Your Teeth.

A year ago when we told people we'd were moving to Florida, we'd hear about the heat and humidity and how the first summer would be hell, but if we survived it we'd acclimatize for the next year. All I can say is what a bunch of baloney! The weather here is great. The summer is beautiful. So it's hot, so what? So was Southern California. So it's humid, so what? Religion gets the blame

I saw this article: Religion does fulfill primary need in which the author defends religion against someone who was blaming it for the unrest in the middle east.

I think what they are both missing is that such things don't come from religion, they come from people who are fanatics. You may as well blame soccer or politics or ideologies for war and violence. The truth is these things are merely excuses for some fanatic to vent his insanity against someone else. If those things didn't exist the fanatic would find some other excuse for his actions.

So next time you hear someone blaming Islam or Christianity or any other religion for war or violence just point out the truth - some nut case is simply using them as an excuse.

If you watch those ads on TV which depict the wonders of drugs (you know like the cartoon character with depression who comes alive after taking the latest anti-depressant) then you need to watch the Consumers Union Video: The Drugs I Need!

Psychiatrists Openly Admit they have NO Tests and NO Cures

It is difficult for ordinary people to understand how corrupt Psychiatry is. A normal person tends to look at others as being like him or her, so the idea that an entire profession is perfectly willing to make billions of dollars annually based on fraud and is completely open about admitting it, is almost beyond comprehension.

But it happens to be the truth. This video shows psychiatrists at the 2006 American Psychiatric Association convention openly admitting they are complete frauds: Psychiatrists admit no science and no cures.

Alberto Threatens Coast - Florida Company Announces Technology to Stop Hurricanes

The hurricane season for 2006 is already predicted to be very severe and it seems that all our government can do is plan to handle the disaster when it strikes. I haven't heard of any plans to try to stop or reduce the hurricanes, yet with all the technology we have, there must be something we can do.

Well it seems the solution is being researched by a non-profit corporation, on its own with no help (as yet) from the government: Alberto Threatens Coast - Florida Company Announces Technology to Stop Hurricanes.

Wouldn't it save billions of dollars to invest a couple million in research like this?

The Cult Around The Corner

Religious intolerance has been the bane of civilization for centuries. If you have ever seen the Shakespeare play "The Merchant of Venice" or read much literature from the early part of the 20th Century, you will see how hatred and intolerance for Jews festered for centuries and led to the horrors of the holocaust.

So it is a refreshing change to see a book dedicated to religious tolerance: The Cult Around The Corner. This is a common sense handbook on overcoming serious religious differences between individuals and groups. I highly recommend it.

Standard Clinical Research Guidelines Cause Disaster

Six people who where subjects of a drug trial are in critical condition. Six Hospitalized in British Drug Trial. This sort of human experimentation goes on all the time under the guise of "clinical trials." How experiments of this sort can be allowed in a so called "civilized" society is explained by the huge amounts of money the pharmaceutical companies pay out to have laws passed to make it okay.

Here are some of the excuses: the trial "adhered to standard clinical research guidelines" (which allow people to be experimented on), "Such an adverse drug reaction occurs extremely rarely and this is an unfortunate and unusual situation" (yeah, like the unusual occurrence of 26 people killing themselves during the trials for Prozac), "These events were completely unexpected and do not reflect the results we obtained from initial laboratory studies" (wow, those must have been really thorough lab studies), "Our immediate priority has been to ensure that no further patients are harmed" (read that as "no further PR is harmed".

Psychiatrists Experimenting on Children

Children between 4 and 6 years old are being used as human guinea pigs in a "study" being performed by the Department of Pediatric Psychopharmacology at Massachusetts General Hospital. The drugs being tested are so dangerous that they have a "black box" warning because they cause diabetes, a life-threatening nervous system problem, low blood pressure and even death in adults, so god knows what they are going to do to young children. Now maybe you think, "and their parents let them be used in these experiments?" but the parents weren't told about the side-effects of the drugs!

This is something you probably thought ended with the Nuremberg Trials where the people who ran the Nazi Death Camps were finally brought to justice. Well, no. This is happening right now in America. Here is the data: Tots Used as Human Guinea Pigs?

Suicide warning issued for young Paxil users

I take no pleasure in saying "I told you so." The fact that Paxil and other antidepressants cause suicide in children has been known by the drug makers for a long, long time. Prescribing antidepressants to children is banned in the UK and several other countries and has been for years. The FDA still hasn't banned it but at least this is a step forward: Suicide warning issued for young Paxil users .

I also want to point out that last year Tom Cruise was attacked again and again by "experts" for saying that these drugs were dangerous. It seems he can now say "I told you so," but he probably won't, there is little pleasure in it when you think of the number of kids who've died due to the criminal negligence of the FDA and the profit hungry lying of the pharmaceutical industry.

History of Psychiatry

Question: How do you handle a disobedient child of 10 or 11 years old?
Answer from a survivor of Psychiatry: "They would plunge our heads into ice-cold water if we did something wrong,"

In an interview last year, Tom Cruise told Matt Lauer that he, Matt, didn't know the history of psychiatry and that if he did he would have a different viewpoint on the subject. Mr. Cruise was totally correct and just to prove it here is a horror story from the recent past: Up to 50,000 innocent children may have died or disappeared in Quebec's psychiatric institutions Survivors demand justice

The Dangers of Antidepressant Drugs

This article is a good reference on the dangers of antidepressant drugs such as Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, etc. These drugs are given out mainly by medical doctors who have no clue about how dangerous they are. The article has many links to related articles which expose lies by Eli Lilly, FDA negligence and more. However, I want to point out one big error in the article - linking brain chemistry to depression. There are no physical tests that prove there is such a thing as a chemical imbalance. None, zero, nil, naught, nothing, not-even-one. There are plenty of physical tests that show malfunctions of various organs (especially the thyroid) can cause the symptoms that are called "depression". If your body is not working properly and has no energy because your thyroid is malfunctioning then it's not surprising you're going to feel "depressed". So with that one caveat in mind here is the article: Experts say antidepressant drugs cause suicides instead of preventing them

"We know how to destroy people. It's what we do. We do it without creating liability. That's our specialty."

"We know how to destroy people. It's what we do. We do it without creating liability. That's our specialty." So said a reporter caught red-handed attempting to extort money for "protecting" a billionaire from adverse press. The best way to destroy freedom of the press and freedom of speech is to abuse those freedoms to such an extent that the freedoms are seen as something negative and are taken away.

So, first, demand accuracy of the press and second, carefully evaluate what you read in the media.

Truth in Reporting - The Ethics of the Press

A New York Post gossip writer was caught red-handed trying to extort money, an investment in his clothing line, gossip about other celebrities and jobs for friends and their wives from a New York billionaire. The writer would "protect" the billionaire by preventing fabricated gossip from being written about him in exchange for all these things. He even laid out "levels of protection". Luckily the billionaire was no wimp, contacted the FBI and videotaped the meetings: The billionaire, the Post and the $220G shakedown.

So here we have another story about a reporter printing inaccurate stories, this time as a means of extortion. You've probably seen quite a few stories over the past couple of years about reporters making up stories or editing photographs to make themselves look good. The moral of the story? Don't blindly believe what you read in the press, always think for yourself.

The Big Pharmaceutical Interpretation of Ethics

When they think of "Ethics" most people think of the traditional definition: "a system of moral principles governing the appropriate conduct for a person or group". Normally we think "appropriate conduct" is conduct which is "good" or "helps" or is "honorable", etc. But it seems the executives of the pharmaceutical company Merck have a different way of looking at "appropriate conduct". An FDA Advisory Panel has finally come out and recommended that ADHD drugs such as Ritalin, Concerta, Methylin, Metadate, Adderall and Adderall XR should have a "black box" warning - the strongest kind. The reason? The drugs kill people. Aside from the usual side-effects of psychiatric drugs, such as suicide and murder, these drugs also cause cardiovascular problems. On a first look at the data that only covered a couple of years, they found 25 deaths and it is estimated that only a small percentage of adverse reactions to drugs are reported so the actual number of people who've died from these drugs is much, much higher.

Google Desktop - Privacy Warning

Here's a scary article: Google Desktop 3 Raises Privacy Concerns. Is Google intending to send text versions of your documents across the Internet encrypted or just as plain text? It's bad enough having your private documents uploaded to their site, but uploaded in a plain text format? Hackers are going to have a field day trying to intercept this stuff. What kind of data will they be able to gather? Social Security numbers? Credit Card numbers? User ids and passwords if you've been incautious enough to put them in a document?
